Block Island School

The Block Island School has always embraced small class sizes and a tight knit community. Through out the years, students have been able to collaborate vertically across the grades. When walking around the school, it is not uncommon to witness older students mentoring the younger students. Reading buddies are one way to improve reading skills and practice. These sessions provide the young students a meaningful activity that builds positive relationships. The younger students get to hear a more experienced reader within a comfortable environment and helps create opportunities for risk taking. Way to go Grade 2 and 7!
